4 Delivery BS 8555 workshops course

The BS 8555 workshops course is designed to provide a route for the phased implementation of an Environmental Management System.  It breaks down the traditional ISO 14001 structure into 6 manageable phases, and provides an opportunity to gain external recognition at any phase.

Eco Network provides a series of 6 workshops spread over about a year where delegates learn how to implement the 6 phases into their own organisation. Focused assistance and support is also available outside of the workshops to help delegates complete the course. The photographs show the publicity that 4Delivery gained when suppliers started the course, an intermediate workshop and certificates issued to delegates who had successfully completed the course.

Workshops and Training Course for Suppliers to Mid Kent Water.

acorn trustAt Mid Kent Water, good environmental performance is very important to our business. Our aim is to utilise Environmental Management Systems (EMS) within our own business wherever practical. To this end we are developing our own Corporate Responsibility and Environmental Policies. These incorporate the principles of sustainable production, consumption and construction, as well as the actions needed to address Government policy on Sustainable Development and Biodiversity Action Plans.

We also believe that the understanding and use of EMS by our supply chain is a key component of this strategy. We will therefore now be placing a higher emphasis on the sustainability performance factors of our suppliers and contractors when determining short lists for tendering opportunities.

econetAs part of our commitment to continual improvement, we are therefore encouraging all of our suppliers and contractors to enrol for forthcoming environmental management training workshops, based on the international standard ISO 14001 and starting on 27th March. This will promote the fact that work carried out for us is as environmentally sound as possible. Members of our own staff will also be attending the training.

The training will help our suppliers and contractors of all sizes to easily and inexpensively understand and implement their own EMS in a cost effective way.  As well as reducing environmental risks, companies that attend the training will also identify potential financial benefits for themselves, such as cost savings and new marketing opportunities.

We would strongly like to encourage the appropriate person from your organisation to attend this training. The implementation of an EMS is increasingly becoming a commercial requirement for suppliers and contractors and is likely to have an important influence on your own future business with us.

The training consists of 6 one-day workshops, held at intervals of about two months between each workshop, where by adopting the BS 8555 phased approach, delegates will learn how to implement an EMS certifiable to ISO 14001 within their own company. If required, they can also learn how to integrate this with their Quality, and Safety management programmes.

More information on the training can be seen by clicking on the links below or by visiting www.mrcannon.net

The workshops will be held the Surrey Downs Golf Club, Kingswood, Surrey KT20 6JS www.surreydownsgc.co.uk and be delivered by Eco Network Ltd.

The first workshop will be on Tuesday 27th March. The cost per delegate for all 6 workshops, including training materials, buffet lunch and refreshments, is £1600 plus VAT.
